super bowl ad infinitum

USA Today released their "rankings" of the Super Bowl ads that aired on Sunday. As with most lists, it's very subjective, although they claim to use some "electronically charted...second-by-second reactions," so it sounds well researched.

Of course, the problem is that they tend to reward two types of ads: sappy ads and dumb humor. Most of the truly original and inventive ads get stuck towards the bottom.

My personal favorite: the ad for Garmin, makers of GPS car receivers. Check it out.



What REALLY interesting about this ad is that there is a full-length video of the song (including extra glam-metal goodness) to go along with it. Apparently the singer is named Steve Grimmett, and he's the former lead singer of British New Wave Heavy Metal band Grim Reaper.
