orville redenbacher rises from the grave

When I first saw this commercial on television, I completely lost my appetite.

Orville Redenbacher died in 1995. As far as food spokesman go, he always seemed a little more likeable than Colonel Sanders or Frank Purdue. Closer to a Dave Thomas from Wendy's type. So what have they done 12 years after his death? Reanimated him with the creepiest CGI I've ever seen. They even have a stand-in voice for him (to differentiate this from reanimating a dead Marlon Brando for the new Superman flick).

I don't know who I hate more - the ad agency who thought up this idea or the corporate marketing guy who approved it. But I need to point out a term here - the uncanny valley. If there ever was a textbook example of the uncanny valley, all you need to do is watch this spot.
