april fool's joke fools tv news - plus bonus hypocrisy
Get this:
For April Fool's Day, comedy troupe ImprovEverywhere decided to film themselves crashing a funeral unbeknownst to the grieving family. Sounds downright tasteless until you realize that the prank itself was the April Fool's joke; the whole thing was staged. They put it up on YouTube. So what happens? A TV news program picks up on it and reports it as real. So far nothing too crazy. So ImprovEverywhere decides to post video of the TV news program's report to show how gullible they were. What does the TV station do? Send a copyright notice to YouTube to take down the embarrasing video.

So if you're keeping score - Channel 11 News has no problem airing the ImprovEverywhere video without asking permission. But when ImprovEverywhere airs their report (which anyone with a TV could have watched for free) they get a cease and desist order? Hypocrisy would be funny if it wasn't so damn depressing.
